B-1 Munitions Handling Unit Compressor Remanufacturing
Robins AFB
Elevate Systems led the successful remanufacturing of Munitions Handling Unit (MHU) Compressors for the B-1 Bomber in support of Robins Air Force Base. Confronted with severe obsolescence challenges and unavailable components, our team reverse engineered multiple critical parts and utilized additive manufacturing to fabricate replacements—most notably, a stainless-steel air strainer that could not be sourced through traditional means. With full engineering approval from the Air Force, these newly fabricated components were integrated into the compressor assemblies, restoring full operational capability. This effort ensured the continued supportability of the B-1’s munitions handling systems and underscored Elevate Systems’ ability to deliver rapid, innovative sustainment solutions using advanced manufacturing technologies.

Elevate Systems is currently supporting a multi-year IDIQ contract with the U.S. Air Force for the reverse engineering and re-manufacturing of B-52 Radar Blower Motor Assemblies. Under this effort, Elevate Systems successfully developed a complete, non-proprietary Technical Data Package (TDP), leveraging advanced metrology, 3D modeling, and additive manufacturing to create a fully qualified replacement motor assembly. Our work has resulted in a modernized, supportable solution that addresses long-standing obsolescence issues and has led to the deployment of 3D printed impellers flying on more than 70 B-52 aircraft today. This effort is a key example of our ability to rapidly deliver high-quality, airworthy solutions for legacy weapon systems.
